Good Morning Metabolism!



Along with starting the Metabolic Aftershock exercises, I also begun having the metabolic boosting/fat burning drink each morning. It’s easy to drink and no trouble to make. You can mix the ingredients into black coffee or tea. I have it with Bullet Proof Coffee or a dandelion tea (or a yummy new tea I found from Higher Living… Cocoa and Chilli).

Drink this metabolism booster before you eat or drink anything else for the day.

Mix the following into your coffee/tea:

  • A few drops of vanilla extract
  • A quarter to a half teaspoon of cinnamon
  • A small nob of cacao butter (or ghee) – this is the good fat that tells your body to burn the bad fats

 

To really get things flowing, follow up with water and/or a smoothie or juice and more teas throughout the morning. Eat breakfast as per normal if you feel like it. Then stick to clean eating and high protein for the rest of the day and include another good fat, such as avocado, nuts or linseeds in your lunch. Try to eat the majority of your food for breakfast and lunch, going lighter in the evening. A good rule seems to be to stop eating at least 3 hours before bed or, if you can, don’t eat anything after 6 pm. I read this little phrase recently; ‘eat like a King for breakfast, a Prince for lunch and a Pauper for dinner!’

Every second day do your Metabolic Aftershock 15 minute workout. On alternate days do whatever you feel you have the energy to do; gentle stretches, a walk or a bike ride, some weights, or have a complete rest.

I really feel the positive effects of this routine, and it’s easy to stick to. Our bodies can get a bit sluggish in mid-life and we need to change things up a bit, give the old body a bit of a shock and prompt it into action again. The thought of learning new exercise regimes or changing your diet can be daunting, so simply adding a couple of metabolism boosting ingredients into your morning coffee (albeit a decaf for me!) seems quite painless. And they are delicious and flavoursome ingredients that feel quite indulgent (so you feel like you are having a treat that is also doing you good!)
