Diatomaceous Earth

The fossilised remains of diatons, a type of hard-shelled algae, diatomaceous earth is 80-90% silica, with some alumina and iron oxide.

It’s used for all sorts of non-human consumption things (google and see, or don’t if it might put you off!)….. but primarily it’s known for killing pests and parasites (which is pretty much what it does in your intestines and stomach). It is a fine powder and care should be taken not to directly inhale it, although this is more relevant for when using it to dust plants/crops.  The organic food grade version is for human consumption and has a wide range of benefits. Silica, great for hair, skin and nails, doesn’t build up in the body, so no chance of over-dosing but it does mean you need to keep taking it regularly.

What are the benefits of Diatomaceous Earth?
» great for cholesterol and blood pressure
» great for osteoporosis and joints
» aids natural weight loss
» performs a body detox (of heavy metals and radiation)
» is an internal cleanser (the structure of the fine particles traps and removes parasites)
» great for tissue repair
» great for hair growth (and some people report that their grey hair becomes its original colour again)
» great for skin elasticity
» prevents premature aging
» reduces inflammation of the intestines
» great for teeth and gums (prevents cavities and preserves teeth)
» great for hardening nails
» alleviates lower back pain
» helps with menopause symptoms
» helps diabetes
» helps circulation
» regulates and normalises the bowels
» assist urinary tract infections
» helps with vertigo, headaches, tinnitus and insomnia

Dosage: Up to 1-2 tablespoons a day… but start with 1 teaspoon until past the intestine/bowel clean out stage!

I take it first thing in the morning with a full glass of water, and drink more water than usual through the day. Try not to have anything else for about an hour after taking it.

I’m adding it to my toothpaste a couple of times a week, and to my cleanser once a week, as it’s a natural exfoliate.
If you’ve been told you may have Candida, then this is a great way to assist getting rid of it. Apparently the structure of the particles traps the parasites and carries them out of the body.

Note: I’m also giving a little to my dog with her dinner a couple of times a week, as it’s just as good for pets as it is for us. Her energy levels have gone up (which means mine have had to also!)

Where to buy:
In Australia – any of these
…. but google and you will find many more and one that’s convenient for you.
They all differ; I purchased from two different suppliers and one was a finer, greyish coloured powder, compared to the other that was not as fine and bright white. I like using the bright white one on my teeth and as a face pack (from Fossil Power), whereas the finer powder is easier to drink (from Bio-Medicals).

Have I noticed a difference:
Yes, and more to the point, others have noticed a difference 🙂
Initially it was great to get everything functioning really efficiently…. but now that I’ve been taking it for 3 months or more, I notice the effects on my skin, hair and nails… still waiting for the grey hair to go away though!
I was starting to see that my skin was looking dull, tired and a little droopy. Basically I could see in places that it had the appearance of being dry and kind of dull (which is all pretty normal with getting older, and exaggerated if you’re contending with CFS as well as the symptoms of menopause)…. Well my skin has certainly improved with regards to texture and brightness. It looks more plumped, I suspect to do with the link between silica and elasticity/collagen. And not a syringe in sight!
